Background: Critical thinking underlies tactical ability, and in the sporting context, it is known as reflective thinking that is used to make reasonable and defensible decisions in movement tasks. Critical thinking and sports tactics can then be described as analytical processes that involve solving situations in a reflective way. It is through experiences and discussions around experiences that more meaningful learning is generated (Godbout and Gréhaigne Citation2022). If we want to develop the tactical ability of players and, therefore, their decision-making ability, we should try to improve their critical thinking skills.
