This article analyzes the contribution of technological innovation to food security and climate change mitigation in Colombia based on 18 technologies in the agriculture and livestock sector that originated from the actions of AGROSAVIA (Colombian Corporation for Agricultural Research). Based on the 2023 Social Balance of AGROSAVIA, the study describes the results in terms of economic, environmental, and social impact. It presents the case of high-yielding plant varieties, resistant to pests and diseases or tolerant to adverse weather conditions; sustainable agricultural practices that allow the conservation of natural resources and the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; and sustainable livestock systems through efficient management of pastures and the implementation of silvopastoral models that harmonize livestock production with the preservation of the tree and shrub component. The retrospective analysis of the impact of agricultural innovations responds to an increasingly pressing demand from funders and political authorities, evidencing the great responsibility of researchers to meet the challenges of sustainable development.
