This article exposes some of the elements conforming teachers' language attitudes in the Spanish language classrooms in Bogota. Taking the notion of linguistic ideologies, the tension between linguistic correction (based on the idea of the standard language) and the educational guidelines oriented to the recognition of linguistic diversity in the school setting is analyzed. Finally, the paper goes back to the contributions of sociolinguistics research to overcome the conflict and propose the strengthening of sociolinguistic awareness as educational strategy for teachers and students to promote the linguistic diversity value in language classroom.
