Aims & Objectives: Pediatric stroke is a rare condition, and its global burden is unknown. The purpose of this study is to describe the epidemiology and clinical presentation of stroke in pediatric patients treated at a referral center in Colombia. Methods: We conducted a observational cross-sectional cohort study by assessing the medical records of patients between 2 and 17 years of age diagnosed with stroke at Fundación Valle del Lili between 2011 and 2021. We analyzed the data using absolute and cumulative frequency tables. The study was approved by the IRB. Results: A total of 134 patients were included. Sociodemographic data and clinical presentation are shown in table 1. The most common etiology for hemorrhagic stroke was arteriovenous malformations, accounting for 36% of cases, while for ischemic strokes, arteriopathic causes represented 30%. Regarding sequelae, almost half (47%) of the patients exhibited a motor deficit, followed by language alterations. It is worth noting that 19% did not have any sequelaeConclusions: This is one of the largest cohorts of patients with pediatric stroke in Colombia and Latin America to date. The observed proportion of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke was similar. This registry provides valuable information on the epidemiology and etiology of pediatric stroke and helps pediatricians achieve a better understanding of this entity in the pediatric population, improving early recognition and timely management. Standardize management of this disease is needed in children. Keywords: stroke, pediatric stroke
