Erosion is a soil degradation process that has worsened in recent years in response to both environmental variations and human activities, requiring the establishment of mitigation and remediation measures for lands susceptible to such processes. Currently, there are methodologies that allow the assessment of the erosive potential of soil through correlations with its physical properties; however, these values need to be adjusted in light of the results of direct laboratory tests. Therefore, this current study utilizes the Inderbitzen test, which is a simple laboratory test that allows for determining soil loss, critical shear, the size of detached particles, and the time taken by the particles to be dragged during an erosive process. It is observed that void ratio is a physical property that significantly affects the erodibility of a material, making its consideration fundamental while assessing the erosive potential of tropical soil.
