Abstract Introduction Occupational eye trauma is a major source of workday injuries, with higher incidence in industrialized countries and accounting for 3% of emergency consultations. They are a major cause of vision loss worldwide, with a great socioeconomic impact. Methods and Results Ocular traumatisms occupy a relevant place in reported work accidents, their incidence is 1 per 10 thousand individuals, with a higher frequency in agricultural activities, metallurgical, electrical and construction industries, and health professions such as dentistry. In spite of the trend of occupational accidents in Colombia in recent years, it is possible that there is an underreporting of ocular trauma due to occupational accidents in ophthalmologic care.
