Summary This article compiles the field work carried out during 30 days in the study area located between the municipalities of Betéitiva and Otengá, bounded by the Chicamocha River and consisting of a total area of 50 km2. The main objective was to clarify if the Aguachica Intrusive, the Chuscales Stock and the Otengá Stock are independent igneous bodies or if, on the contrary, they should be considered as part of the same geological unit, called Otengá Stock. For this purpose, the similarities and differences in their composition, structure and macroscopic characteristics were analyzed, in addition to evaluating the cartographic information resulting from field work and previous studies carried out in the area. We started from the descriptions made by Ulloa et.al (2003) , in the report of plate 172-Paz del Rio, where each unit is differentiated according to shear relationships between the Aguachica intrusive and adjacent sedimentary units. However, after performing the geological, structural and stratigraphic analysis, it is concluded that the intrusive units: the Aguachica Intrusive, the Chuscales Stock and the Otengá Stock, can be unified into a single unit called Otengá Stock.
