Abstract:

At present, all continents face situations related to movements of people. According to the UN, 3.4% of the planet's population is migrant (economic migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, even internally displaced people), and the treatment given to them by the States constitutes a challenge that is part of government agendas. Diversity in the configuration of destinations and migratory profiles makes it necessary for the States to propose responses to migration, even though it is not possible to find a perfect and complete policy that is able to balance the efficient management of migrations promoting safe and orderly flows and respect for the rights of migrants, who hope to find optimal conditions in the host States that would allow them to achieve their life project. From this context, the Academy is called upon to reflect on migratory dynamics, international standards, legislation, and the difficulties that foreigners face in terms of rights. Thus, the authors have joined forces to generate new knowledge by presenting in this book the main challenges posed by people's movements.
