In "El gran Teatro del Mundo" (2023), Philipp Blom defends the necessity to create new narratives about the human being in its relationship with the world and with nature, to confront the environmental and existential crisis of our present. This writing masterfully articulates elements of art, philosophy, and literature to offer a thorough examination of the stories that have shaped and defined the man of modernity and, consequently, contemporary societies. The work concludes with the imperative to move beyond the narrative of progress and the idea of man as a rational being, which, while enabling technological advancements and a new way of life, also brings us closer to the abyss of our own extinction. Keywords: Baroque literature, history, nature, human being, climate change, modernity, Enlightenment, imagination.
