Climate change, the occurrence of extreme meteorological phenomena, pollution, and poor management by administrations are threatening sustainable socioeconomic development and biodiversity throughout the planet. Hence, the book titled The human right to water and the challenges for its adequate management contributes to the study of the human right to water for human dignity while reflecting critically on the regulatory regime of drinking water supply and basic sanitation in Colombia. It aims to show the progress, the points of improvement, and the difficulties of central and decentralized public administrations since the issuance of the 1991 Constitution to ensure access to drinking water universally and sustainably. Thus, this work will become a permanent reference tool for all interested in analyzing the most relevant challenges related to the appropriate management of the human right to water in Colombia in the twenty-first century.
