Aplicación de modelos de elección discreta regularizados para el análisis de los determinantes del consumo cultural en Colombia: el caso de los bienes del patrimonio cultural
Abstract This article analyzes the determinants of attendance and frequency of attendance at museums and places of historical interest in Colombia, using data from the Cultural Consumption Survey applied by the National Administrative Department of Statistics in 2014. Logistic regression models and The Continuation Ratio Model regularized estimated to automatically identify relevant variables to explain cultural consumption decisions, while solving statistical problems associated with the existence of a large number of explanatory variables, such as estimator instability, spurious correlations, incidental multicollinearity and incidental endogeneity, among others. The results indicate that the accumulation of cultural capital is the main determinant of cultural consumption, validating the rational addiction approach in the Colombian context.
