This article stems from research conducted in the field of psychology, focusing on romantic relationships and the elements that play a role in romantic love. The aim was to analyze the beliefs about romantic love expressed by women studying pedagogy. Regarding the methodology, qualitative research with a post-positivist approach and a descriptive method was employed. The technique used was a bibliographic review to address the sample, which consisted of students in pedagogical careers. The results allowed for the determination that women's perceptions vary and are diverse, falling into different categories and codes derived from the conducted reviews. Additionally, the findings reveal the recognized figure of the female stereotype in society, which is not accepted by the participants. It can be concluded that the role of women stands out in the narratives when facing different situations determined in a toxic relationship, where possession and control over the partner are viewed as power devices, similarly to male dominance that contributes to gender-based violence in romantic relationships.
