Mindfulness meditation has shown promising results for students; however, meditations generated through text-to-speech (TTS) are not as prevalent. Determining whether technologically developed Mindfulness meditations can yield positive outcomes is vital. This article presents the results of a pilot study on the effects of TTS-generated guided meditation on university students. Twelve participants engaged in a six-minute session of reading and meditation while their brainwave data was recorded. The study measured six psychological and physiological states. Four variables, Stress, Excitement, Focus, and Interest showed significant improvements after the Mindfulness Meditation, which suggests potential benefits for students. However, according to the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, two variables showed no significant effects. The study recommends further research with larger samples and longer durations to understand better the potential benefits of TTS-generated guided meditation in educational settings.
