In 2022 the Colombian Transmission System Operator (XM) carried out a study to identify extreme threats and vulnerabilities that the electrical grid would face, and together with the National Operation Council (CNO for its acronym in Spanish), established a resilience working group composed of generation, transmission, and distribution companies in the country. Using a resilience methodology adopted by XM in conjunction with EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute), such working group identified the grid elements at risk from electrical infrastructure attacks, cyberattacks, floods, landslides, extreme El Niño phenomena, climate change, and other sources. This paper describes the results of this work and provides its recommendations.
