The objective of this paper is to assess the international experience regarding auctions for renewable power sources to improve Colombia's energy transition. To do this, some international power markets were chosen and analyzed. In these markets, the presence of renewable sources in the power matrix is gaining significant participation in the last years. Additionally, an analysis of the Brazilian energy auction system is performed, bringing its types of auctions and how the country managed to implement its instruments for sustainable energy transition.
