In the growing search for energy production methods, ecological and sustainable, lignocellulosic biomass biorefineries take a leading role due to their high energy capacity, low polluting impact and because in most cases they can be considered as belonging to the natural cycle of life. Agricultural waste such as potato peeling, can be transformed into a source of energy and income by being valorized through pre-treatment. Among the variety of possible pre-treatments, steam explosion stands out due to its easy of implementation, the minimum demand for additional substances, and the low or non-existent production of polluting waste, in such a way that it becomes necessary to generate processes and machinery that allow this pre-treatment to be carried out in a scalable and simple way, meeting the productivity requirements demanded by the current market. Therefore, it was decided to design a pilot scale screw bioreactor that was analyzed in CAD design app, FEA.
