Optimized characterization workflow for naturally fractured reservoirs using seismic anisotropy attributes in the Middle Magdalena Valley basin, Colombia
This work aims to establish the most suitable seismic fracture characterization methodology for Colombian Middle Magdalena Valley (MMV) cretaceous formations by comparing interpretations from well image logs with various seismic anisotropy attributes obtained from azimuthal data. The workflow applied encompassed five main processes, where several types of seismic anisotropy attributes were estimated, and subsequently evaluated by comparing with fracture information at several well locations. Mismatch in some intervals was addressed by incorporating stress estimations, as well as seismic data quality and uncertainty attribute analysis.
