The article proposes a reflection on the scope and possibilities of developing collaborative research methodologies with the participation of the U’wa educational community, particularly the teachers of the Kera Shikará indigenous educational institution, formerly El Chuscal, located in a rural area of the municipality of Cubará, department of Boyacá. For this purpose, it starts from the presentation of the educational research background developed in the U’wa context since the end of the first decade of the 21st century, going through the experience of the authors themselves from 2016 to the present, with particular emphasis in the difficulties, limits and possibilities of action research and other qualitative methodologies in social sciences found during the field work carried out with indigenous teachers. To conclude, it is proposed to place this co-research experience in the framework of other similar processes carried out in Colombia and Latin America under decolonial perspectives that have precisely sought to rethink the relationship between researchers and research subjects.
