This research studies operations management techniques that can affect the strengthening of production processes for the logistics performance of the Specialty Coffee Cluster to increase productivity and competitiveness of a group of companies that make up the Cluster, such as one of the strategic development rubles of the department of Risaralda, Colombia. The first phase deals with a reflection on the concepts in operations management and its link with the objectives in production of the cluster initiatives, together with the second field phase that corresponds to an ethnographic investigation that triangulates the Pareto techniques, ABC analysis and the hierarchy analytical process to conclude in the characterization, both of the companies and of the operations techniques in: forecasts, aggregate planning, inventories of finished products, inventories of products of dependent demand, learning curves and expansion of the quality function. Conclusively within a diversity of options for each technique, the specific characterization is presented according to the research results that give potential to the productivity and competitiveness of the Cluster companies.
