Objective: To describe, based on scientific literature, how nursing care occurs in the primary health sector in monitoring patients using antihypertensive medications.Methodology: This is a summary of a narrative review conducted in August 2023, examining the role of nursing care in monitoring the drug treatment of patients with systemic arterial hypertension in Primary Health Care.Results and Discussion: In addition to promoting therapeutic adherence, nursing seeks to improve the quality of life and autonomy of patients in this context.Primary care plays a crucial role in health promotion, fostering connections between healthcare professionals and patients for positive treatment outcomes, especially in chronic diseases such as hypertension.Final Considerations: Nursing plays a vital role from consultation to follow-up, and further studies are needed to optimize therapeutic adherence strategies.
