The school demands on the part of the schoolchildren the adaptation to the situations that sometimes stress them for this reason and in order to broaden the understanding around this issue, the objective of this research was to know the coping strategies in stressful situations school used by fourth grade students in 4 educational institutions of Comuna 11 of Medellín, Colombia and the actions carried out by the teachers who accompany them to promote their development. It is a qualitative investigation, under a hermeneutical phenomenological approach. The sample consisted of 83 students and 2 teachers who were in charge of this grade. It was observed that the abilities of schoolchildren to cope with stressful moments at school are reduced. It is necessary to carry out pedagogical strategies around promoting these competences, in such a way that progress can be evidenced in their behaviors, in the way they relate to others and with the school environment in general.
