Introduction: Arterial hypertension is a global public health problem, exacerbated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has generated important efforts at the global and national levels to strengthen prevention, early detection, and timely treatment to reduce its multidimensional repercussions. Objective: To unify criteria and generate evidence-based clinical recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with arterial hypertension.Method: With the participation of several Colombian associations, an intersocietal consensus was reached for adapting and/or adopting evidence-informed clinical recommendations to guide the diagnosis and treatment of adult patients (18 years old or older) with arterial hypertension. Results: Responses were obtained from 19 experts. The rate of agreement for the recommendations included in the consensus ranged from 84.2 to 100%.Twenty-two clinical recommendations were generated for the dimensions of diagnosis (n = 6), non-pharmacological treatment (n = 6) and pharmacological treatment (n = 10).Conclusions: The clinical recommendations of this consensus guide interdisciplinary clinical decision-making regarding the diagnosis and treatment of people with arterial hypertension.
