Poultry production is recognized as one of the sectors that contributes most to the Gross Domestic Product of the agricultural sector, the activities involved in the production of raw materials originating from this sector, involve understanding the synergy of the bird's sensory organs, the interaction they have with the environment, adaptive behaviors and crucial information for their survival; however, some birds may develop stereotypies, resulting from stress factors, such as lack of adequate environmental stimulus or restriction of movement in captivity. This document evidences the compilation of information regarding the senses present in birds, their functioning, welfare domains affected by the development of productive activities, frequent stereotypies and environmental enrichment as attention to physical and social needs to prevent the development of stereotypies and guarantee animal welfare, which translates into higher egg production.
