This research addresses the influence exerted by the family and the school as the main scenarios of socialization in the political formation of adolescents, especially for the development of their skills for participation. Is a qualitative approach research based on narrative analysis, from which it was sought to obtain information and analyze the data from the narrations of the perceptions, experiences, and practices of the participants. The results show that at the family level the participation of adolescents is marked by the orientation of values and norms in the home, the socio-emotional accompaniment, and the family involvement in instances of institutional participation. At the school level there is the activation of the participation mechanisms of the school government, the spaces for dialogue and reflection in the classroom and the orientation in basic and citizen competences. Some limitations are also identified such as the fact that students don’t appropriate the active and critical role for the transformation of their realities and that the school doesn’t prioritize the promotion of spaces for discussion and political action. It is concluded that strengthening the family-school alliance contributes to the integral formation of the student so that the assumes himself as a political subject and contributes to the construction of a democratic society.
