Since 1919, first known as SCADTA and then in 1940 transforming its name to Avianca, it has been recognized as one of the most beloved airlines by Colombians, being the first airline founded in America and the second in the world. This story is about the Bolivian businessman raised in Brazil, Germán Efromovich, his time at Avianca and how this skilled businessman came to the company in 2004, after buying it from Grupo Santo Domingo and the Colombian Federation of Coffee Growers, who were his previous owners. In his business resume he has had successes, failures and some spots, such as a series of fraud investigations that led him to house arrest. Among his greatest successes is the transformation of Avianca, a process in which he placed all his commitment and effort, and in which, however, he neglected some details as the company was on the rise, mainly those related to the corporate governance.
