Experiencias de cuidadores informales de pacientes vinculados al programa de cuidado paliativo sobre los cuidados implementados en casa, para prevenir lesiones por presión en Bogotá 2022
In palliative care, the population suffers from incurable diseases generating a significant functional deterioration, increasing the risk of pressure injuries, so the caregiver becomes essential in the care. Objective: To know the experiences of informal caregivers of patients linked to the palliative care program on the care implemented at home, to prevent pressure injuries in Bogotá 2022. Design: Qualitative study of a phenomenological type based on the position of Heidegger. Place: It was conducted in the homes of the participants, and the San Ignacio University Hospital. Population: It was made up of twelve main informal caregivers, who fulfilled the participation criteria. Intervention(s): In-depth interviews were conducted, audio recorded and transcribed; and field note. Measurement: Axial coding was implemented using the Nvivo 12 software, assigning subject codes to the participants, the interviews, and the field notes. Results: Four categories were identified: activities that reduce pressure, preserve the skin, elements that release pressure, and origin of knowledge; and 152 context units. Discussion: The findings are correlated with the review of the literature regarding the prevention of LPP, as well as the care activities conducted by the caregiver. It is important to know the role of the caregiver from: personal experiences, expectations in education by the health professional, interest in sharing and replicating experiences related to care, and the actions they would take in the event of a pressure injure.
