The relentless pace of medicine progress has generated changes in the doctor-patient relationship and in the health-disease process, which is widely evidenced in the terminal patient, given the constant aging of the population.Given the above, the concept of Advance Directives arises, where bioethical principles support the free decision of each patient regarding making decisions related to himself and the care of his health in case of find himself limited to dictate his position.Similarly, the treating physician must consider the aspects described in the Advance Directives, previously signed, to make medical decisions during the treatment of the person, respecting bioethical principles.Terms involved in the Advance Directives and in medical ethics, as well as the role of the doctor in the Advance Directives, are described to establish a link between bioethics and the Advance Directives.
