This research was carried out in order to implement strategies for the management and conservation of biodiversity in protected areas of the upper Guarapas River Basin, especially for the Colombian Weasel (Mustela felipei), attending to the identification, evaluation and orientation of community initiatives that contribute to environmental management and the sustainable use of natural resources.Multiple evaluations were carried out for the characterization of diverse landscapes in the upper Guarapas River Basin, as well as samplings of the species, attending to standardized methods that allowed obtaining significant samples and reliable information on the potential distribution of the Colombian weasel.From the records individuals, the conservation status was established and conservation strategies were formulated.Finally, the community awareness phase was carried out in the field in an attempt to help conserve their environment and resources.
