Throughout the world, League of Legends (LoL) e-sports scene entails thousands of highly skilled players permanently competing against each other across distinct geographical contexts. Although the LoL competitive scene globally structures under the game developer’s supervision, it is possible to find significant differences in each context that compose it. These differences manifest as particular gaming experiences, struggles and barriers of entry for aspiring pro-players, which also produce diverse ways of relating to and acting in the social reality they inhabit. Following Bourdieu, we approach this context understanding it as a field of struggles between multiple agents and institutions battling for cultural legitimacy. This article aims to understand the logic behind perspectives and practices of individuals directly related to Colombia’s professional LoL E-sports scene according to the dominant position they occupy in the field. We focus on a certain professional ethic shared among the agents, permeating their practices, perceptions and preferences.
