Limited Resources Aquaculture (LRA) is an agricultural activity of high economic and nutritional value for rural communities, whose efficiency and safety are limited primarily due to microbiological contamination, among which the infection by Aeromonas hydrophila is one of the most prevalent and lethal.A context that has led to the need to develop and implement control strategies for this microbiological infection through sustainable solutions for the inhabitants from an environmental, economic, and social perspective. In this sense, control strategies based on plant-origin agents have emerged as a promising solution, among which formulations based on garlic (Allium sativum) have relevance due to their recognized antibacterial properties, and physical and economic accessibility.Based on this panorama, in the present investigation, the effect of supplying dry food supplemented with garlic (T0: 0, T1: 600, T2: 900, and T3: 1200 g of garlic macerate) on the mortality of red tilapias infected by Aeromonas hydrophila was evaluated in the LRA system of the Asociación de productores y pescadores del corregimiento de Sitio Viejo (APROPES) in Chimá, Córdoba.Evidencing a decrease in the mortality rate of the species as a function of time corresponding to the trend T0 (80 %) > T1 (39 %) > T2 (28 %) > T3 (20 %).These results show the positive effect of microbiological control based on garlic on the survival of organisms, which is related to the stimulation of the species' immune system and the antibacterial activity presented by diverse phytochemical constituents of garlic.
