Objective: this is the first study in a Brazilian sample evaluating whether parents using assisted reproduction have the intention to reveal to their offspring how the conception took place.Method: cross-sectional multicentric study.Thirty seven mothers and 28 fathers completed a questionnaire consisting of five items asking whether they intended to reveal the method of conception to their son/daughter, relatives and friends and the agreement of the couple on the issue.Results: sixty-one out of the 65 persons (96.8%) interviewed had the intention of revealing the method of conception used.Conclusion: both mothers and fathers, independently of years of education, social class and assisted reproduction technique demonstrated the intention to reveal the method of conception, This is in clear contrast to international samples.
