The aim of this paper is to evaluate the configuration of urban space in the cycle of Flores’ novels in terms of “invention”. Likewise, the concept of invention is understood in relation to Aira’s conceptualization of “bad” literature. The appearance of the neighborhood and the signifier “Flores” in the writer’s work coincides with the start-up of a machinery for the production of “novelitas” that takes place from the beginning of the nineties. The work focuses specifically on La prueba and La mendiga, because in them the crossing between inventions of a space (“Flores”) and a procedure (“bad literature”) is manifested with special intensity, in addition to the fact that in both the “re-enchantment of the world” is verified as the way the experience of the city of the present is recorded.
