This research aims to identify potential lines of research in the different careers of the Ecuadorian university, based on the diagnosis and grouping of thesis topics developed similar and different from each other, in accordance with the current theoretical and legal framework.The methodology used consisted in gathering information on site from 15 universities of the province of Pichincha in the Republic of Ecuador during the last 5 years, and using techniques and tools of quantitative research was able to diagnose the current situation and group the thesis topics with dimensions of similar knowledge.The analysis of the obtained results has allowed to measure the situation of the information systems and control of the thesis of degree in the universities investigated, in relation to the normative compliance of having updated information in a base called "Repository" of free access; and also provides a map of tendencies of orientation towards specific lines of research by the business management degrees of the universities of the province of Pichincha.Finally, it is hoped to contribute to the relevant authorities with elements of strategic direction towards sustainable and innovative lines of research detected with marked deficits in the present study.
