Patient safety is a pillar in health care.According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is estimated that there is a 1 to 300 chance of harm during hospital care, which is why it is currently considered a public health problem[1] in addition to its transcendental impact on the morbidity and mortality of different diseases.The objectives were achieved through prevention, risk assessment, events, and injuries, within a systemic approach to managing these risks [2].The current COVID-19 pandemic represents a challenge in this area, being a difficult battle to fight due to its multiple interactions and repercussions on the individual and the community.For this reason, it is extremely important to identify the factors involved, their function and their interconnection.In summary, the proposed strategy to deal with this crisis must start from security and the joint actions of the different sectors of society.This article, through an analogy, takes the concepts of the chess game where, within a complex dynamic, each of the pieces plays an important role, articulated to the joint work required in the security management of patients, to achieve success against COVID-19.
