To obtain significant goals in energy savings, many countries have introduced mandatory policies for energy certification in the air conditioning sector. This paper presents an analysis of rating for performance based on the CSPF and the SEER performance metrics. The contribution is establishing whether the classification of an air conditioner should be influenced by the adoption of a technical standard, or if it is strongly influenced by the energy labeling program issued by each region. The results could be useful for designing and developing better energy efficiency and labelling programs, leading to higher energy savings and carbon dioxide emission reductions.
