Abstract:

( Int J Gynecol Obstet . 2021;152:155–164) A country’s maternal mortality ratio (MMR) is the number of women per 100,000 live births who die from pregnancy related causes. These women may die while pregnant or within 42 days of pregnancy completion. The four most common reasons for MMR in high-income countries are severe preeclampsia, postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), cardiovascular pathologies, and sepsis. Even with limited resources, timely diagnosis and treatment of PPH can greatly minimize MMR.
