In recent decades, the number of immigrant students in Chile has grown significantly and their school choice process has become an emerging and relevant issue for the inclusion of immigrant families in Chilean schools. The objective of this research is to analyze such process, from a qualitative approach, through in-depth interviews and travel maps with five immigrant families from two public schools at Santiago de Chile. We described the determinants and dynamics of the school choice process of five families. Our findings reinforced the importance of emotions in this process.
