This paper summarized the preliminary results of the analysis of the malacological material from three archaeological sites along the Canal Dam: Puerto Hormiga, Monsú and Leticia. The first two sites areas sociated with the Formative Period dates around 6.000 years ago and the last is associated with dates from the thirteenth century. Recovered shell samples correspond to the 1/8 Inch mesh. These samples were analyzed taxonomic, taphonomic and quantification procedures of zooarchaeology were followed. Malacofauna information suggested that the most representative species collected by the prehistoric inhabitants, perhaps for occasional meals were gastropods and bivalves from mangroves, estuaries, swamps and muddy areas of mixed sand and brackish, environments.
