The recent development of specialized tools, both in geomathics, for the solution of interpolation problems and the geographical information systems, for the conformation, management and exploitation of data basis, permitted the quick development of studies in historical hydrography. The study submitted is based on a series of bathymetric charts prepared between 1938 2001, the influence of contributions of solids in the mouth of the Atrato river is shown over the bottom of the Colombia Bay cinematic, located south east of the Uraba Gulf. The area at the bottom which has not changed corresponds to a 35% of the Bay surface. The sectors in erosion represent some 4% of the study zone; they are located essentially located on the littoral strip and recount to the depression of the shoreline. On different arms of the Atrato river, the displacement is evident at the location of these sectors in a secondary way west wards the Bay. The accumulation zones represent the majority of the Colombia Bay (61%) where the accumulated material tends to cover and flatten the original topography. The annual media sediment accumulation of the order of magnitude of 1,8 107 m3/ year for the set of Colombia Bay, shows up that a mass of 8106 ton/ year is accumulated, supposing a dry density of 0,43, corresponding to the sedimentation of the whole of the charge of the coastal rivers and the Atrato rivers olids. The confrontation of the present sediment velocities against those stated in the Holoceno brings up the existence of a contemporary erosion crisis, possibly due to the development of human activities.
