Análisis de la relación entre masas de aire y masas de agua superficiales sobre la cuenca del Pacífico colombiano para el establecimiento de estaciones hidrometeorológicas de monitoreo
The present study conducts an analysis on the relationship between air masses and superficial water masses in the Colombian Pacific Ocean (CPO). This work is based on the study of the climate average oceanographic data, modeled for the period 1971- 2000, and meteorological data, taken from the NCEPNCAR reanalysis file in the same period. The air masses and water masses were identified every month and in average, through the cluster analysis with meteorological variables: air temperature (Ta) and relative humidity (Hr), and oceanographic variables: sea surface temperature (SST) and sea surface salinity (SSM) respectively. The correlation between the air masses and water masses through the canonical analysis was determined. Regional names of air masses according to the local characteristics were defined. The zones with the highest correlation, which are the base for the determination of the location of four hydrometeorological monitoring stations in the CPC, were shown. Three hydrologic transeptos for the superficial water monitoring of the study area are suggested.
