A new model of higher education has been established in Latin America, called intercultural or indigenous.This paper analyzes the potential, been represented in these institutions, by the integration of formative lines on Sustainability in connection with Intercultural Education approaches, setting a pattern and new perspectives to integrate other areas such as ethnosciences, agroecology, education and applied anthropology.It is discussed about the relationship between culture and nature, considering biocultural diversity and territorial expressions that are part of a heritage with which rural and indigenous societies contribute to defining perspectives towards current civilizational trends.Based on this review we postulate a comparative and integrative conceptual framework that can serve as a reference in the implementation of experiences or seeking educational alternatives, that will allow closer the fields of environmental education and intercultural education.
