Chorioamnionitis is a pathology difficult to diagnose accurate, so it is a problem for doctors who are doomed to its management. Not only does it produce alterations in the usual course of pregnancies but it also causes high morbidity and mortality in newborns. The present article shows in a general way the pathophysiology, the clinical and paraclinical findings of the disease and its management, with the purpose of carrying out a brief update of the state of the art that impacts on the specialists that face the maternal with probable intraamniotic infections.
