Objective: To determine the Effects of a Program of Physical Activity with Music (PAFCM) for 12 weeks, on anthropometric variables, the maximum consumption of oxygen and the physical capacities in a group of children from a School in the City of Bogotá. Methodology:A quasi-experimental study was carried out. The sample was 70 children divided into two groups: a control group and an intervention group, each with 35 participants. the variables determined were the Body Mass Index (BMI), percentage of total body fat, maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max), and physical capacities (abdominal strength, prehensile strength, power, speed, balance). Results:The results showed that the PAFCM produces significant changes in the anthropometric variables, the basic physical capacities. The decrease in the percentage of total body fat and BMI was observed with a twelve week intervention program. Conclusion:It is concluded that the PAFCM is an alternative to combat obesity and sedentary lifestyle in schoolchildren, and can be applied as an intervention program in educational and health contexts.
