Cognitive control tasks allow the analysis of data provided by experimental processing mechanisms, in which one must respond under conditions of congruence-incongruence stimuli.The present critical review aims to analyze the main studies of the Simon Task cognitive control task, with special attention to the research method employed.The literature search was carried out using the PubMed and MedLine databases.Five studies conducted between 2000 and 2020 were selected.There is a remarkable growth in experimental research with the use of cognitive control tasks, especially classic tasks such as the Stroop, the Go/No Go and Eriksen's Flanker, which due to their wide description in the literature can help to strengthen discussions in researches that want to measure this variable.josha.org
