He was born in Chihuahua, México. He obtained a B.Sc. from ITESM in Monterrey, México.Later, he received his Ph.D. in chemistry at Harvard University in 2015, where he investigated the coordination chemistry and electronic structure of iron clusters. In 2016, he moved to New York city as a Columbia Nano Initiative Postdoctoral Fellow exploring novel materials for nonaqueous redox flow batteries, and the synthesis and characterization of macromolecular contorted aromatics. In 2018, he started his research group working toward the development of supramolecular ligands for metal cluster development, nonspherical anion binding hosts, and the synthesis of tubular contorted aromatics, termed tubularenes.
