This work proposes a low-cost HEM model, since cheap devices, as well as free hardware and software, have been used for its design. Compared to other alternatives present in the market in Colombia, the suggested alternative is of lower commercial value so it can be implemented in a greater number of homes. In addition, the proposed scheme has been evaluated taking consumption data before and after the implementation of the HEM, using a test bench with appliances for typical household use. This evaluation showed a considerable reduction of energy for each appliance connected to the test bench, achieving a total saving of 27% of energy consumption using the proposed system. In addition, we propose a gamification approach that uses HEM and predictive models to achieve greater savings.
