In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic created chaos in public and private life. Education institutions worldwide had to migrate online on very short notice. Online teaching and learning has been a prominent research topic in recent years, but with the rapid change in recent months, progress and interest has been greater. A bibliographic review is carried out, with the aim of showing the experiences of some universities, professors and students about emergency online teaching and learning more specifically, and the implication that technology has in higher education. We continue with some initial reflections on online teaching and learning in higher education in general.
