This paper shows the main low power wireless technologies (LPWAN) available in Colombia and identifies the optimal technology for future IoT implementations. Our work focuses on alternatives for the development of an electronic geolocation device for people with early-stage dementia syndrome. As a result of this work, it is possible to highlight that the technology that best suits the objectives of the device development is SigFox.
