This work presents the design of a sliding control applied to a single-phase current source inverter which is connected to the grid and fed by a photovoltaic panel. To avoid harmonic distortion, the current supplied to the grid must be in phase with the voltage grid what is assured by the controller. The controller is formed by three parts which together track and deliver the maximum power of the panel to the grid as well as provides a current in phase with the voltage grid. The PLL computes the phase of the grid, the inner-loop control computes de gain necessary to calculate de current reference, and the sliding control tracks the reference value. These characteristics allow us to obtain low total harmonic distortion in current signal and improve the power quality when voltage grid has harmonic distortion.
