Introduction: Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is the main non-pharmacological strategy in the treatment of COPD; however, the morphofunctional changes that limit exercise capacity could be different depending on the age range. Aim: To compare the changes that occurred after PR in patients with COPD, grouping them into different ranges of age, in an institution in Cali, Colombia. Methods: Prospective intervention study. 73 patients were classified into 3 groups. 10 patients in the pre-elderly (45-59 years), 52 patients in the young-middle old (60-79 years) and 11 patients in the very old age group (over 80 years). After 8 weeks of RP, dyspnea was evaluated with the modified medical research council (mMRC) scale, distance in the 6-minute walk test (6MWT), anxiety and depression with the hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS) and the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) with the St George questionnaire (SGRQ), and the Chronic Respiratory Questionnaire (CRQ). Results: Regarding the values obtained before and after RP, there were beneficial changes in the 3 groups in all the aspects evaluated (p: 0.000), however; These changes were greater in some groups according to the variable studied: the very old group had a better response in dyspnea, the young-middle old group in HRQoL and the pre-elderly age group in functional capacity. Hypothesizing that the older there is more subjective response and in younger people they have a more objective response. Conclusions: In the three groups there were positive changes in dyspnea, functional capacity, quality of life, anxiety and depression after RP. However, these changes were greater in some groups depending on the variable studied.
